CBP to Begin Rollout of Automated Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record
CBP issued a press release announcing that the automation of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record is now effective which will streamline the admissions process for individuals lawfully visiting the US and provides international visitors evidence they have been lawfully admitted to the US. The Social Security Administration updated POMS due to CBP’s automation of the Form I-94 to include an admission stamp in an unexpired foreign passport as an acceptable identity document and as acceptable evidence of nonimmigration status. A parole stamp in an unexpired foreign passport is also acceptable evidence of parole status for a social security number and the 10-day hold policy for most DHS evidence was eliminated. Following CBP’s announcement USCIS announced that it will accept the paper format of the I-94 admission record printed from CBP’s website as evidence of lawful admission. USCIS will also accept photocopies of passport pages that contain the individual’s biographical information, visa, and admission stamp.
